Attorney General Merrick Grland stated that he will not be forced to decide whether to investigate former President Donald Trump and his associates regarding the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.
Garland assured reporters he wouldn’t take outside demands into account as Democrats are investigating Jan. 6, and asking the Justice Department to file charges.
Garland said that he is under no pressure and our line prosecutors are under no pressure to do the right thing in a Justice Department press conference.
Garland stated, “That is because we follow the facts and the law wherever they lead.” ”
More than 770 people were arrested for federal crimes in connection with the Capitol Riot. This occurred when Trump supporters stormed Capitol Building in an attempt to stop the formal certification of his defeat. Many Capitol Police officers were also injured in the riot.
