Lakers LeBron James has been recently diagnosed with coronavirus and missed the game against Sacramento Kings. James, who was reportedly unaffected, tested positive for the virus and was immediately admitted to the NBA’s safety and health protocols.

James passed a lateral flow test and a second PCR was negative. However, a third test came back positive. James will likely be away for at least ten days if he does not return 2 negative PCR results within 24 hours.

James was placed in the NBA’s virus protocols and had stated earlier this season that he is vaccinated.

In a memo, the NBA also informed its teams Tuesday that 34 breakthrough cases among fully vaccinated coaches, players, and staff members. According to the league, 97% of players have been fully vaccinated. Kyrie Irving of Brooklyn, who is not playing this season, remains unvaccinated and is one of the exceptions.

James will be absent for at least four games if he fails to complete the 10-day period required by the league to pass his next COVID-19 test.
