Lindsey Graham, a ranking member of the Senate Budget Committee, warned that President Biden’s Build Back Better was a “spending organization” that would “pave a way to socialism.” Graham slammed the president’s multitrillion-dollar spending plan during a recent press conference. This was after the Congressional Budget Office released its numbers on the proposal’s impact on the deficit if it were made permanent.
Joe Manchin, a Dem Senator from West Virginia, has criticized the “shell games” used to conceal the bill’s true costs. Graham joked that anyone who believes that the many new programs with sunset clauses will “go away after one or two years,” shouldn’t hold a driver’s license. He warned that the Dems’ “spending organization” without budget “gimmicks would add $4.9 trillion to the national debt and cost $4.9 trillion.
Graham said that the radical left could not care less. They are determined to end this monstrosity, no matter what the cost.
The senator stated that if they continue to push on despite the new evidence, it would be the largest mistake in decades. It will make the inflation problem worse. It will increase the debt by $3 trillion. It will lead to a government that you cannot afford and make us more dependent on energy.
It was reported that the Build Back Better would “increase the deficit by $3.0 trillion over 2022-2031 period. The report stated that the amount included three components: the effects typically counted by CBO’s cost estimations, the effects on tax enforcement, and the effects on interest rates on the public debt.
Many other GOP senators spoke out against the president’s agenda on the floor as well as in the media. Tennessee GOP Sen. Bill Hagerty extinguished the Build Back Better Act and called it a cradle to grave, big-government dependence.
